The VigorTalk for DrayTEL is a palm-sized device which lets you connect any regular telephone to your broadband router (or any other Internet-enabled Ethernet connection) to make phone calls using your broadband connection via the DrayTEL Voice-over-IP (VoIP) service. The VigorTalk allows you to make and receive free VoIP calls to any other SIP compatible device (software or hardware) worldwide - the other party does not have to be a DrayTEL user.

Additionally, through DrayTEL, you can make calls to any regular phone line or cellphone worldwide, at low DrayTEL rates, starting at just a penny per minute for calls to the UK, Europe, USA and Australia! (see DrayTEL Rates). You can receive calls too, of course - DrayTEL will allocate you your own real telephone number. The VigorTalk's Ethernet interface connects to an Ethernet ("RJ45") socket on your existing broadband router (or switch).

The calls are carried via your internet connection so your regular phone line remains free for other people and calls. It's just like having an extra phone line. The VigorTalk is small - a little bigger than a pack of cards, so it can be easily transported and taken anywhere where you might find a Ethernet Internet connection (normally a broadband router or LAN). Wherever you plug it in, you can then make and receive calls on your regular DrayTEL phone number - people need never know you're somewhere else! The VigorTalk was awarded VNULabs 'product of the week' - hear their Webcast here.

The VigorTalk is self-contained - it does not need a PC connected to use it, unlike USB or other PC-connected devices. Other VoIP services such as Skype™ and MSN Messenger™ always need a PC connected and switched on - the VigorTalk can be connected and used anywhere you have an Ethernet Internet connection (or router!).

The VigorTalk can be configured from your telephone handset. Simple voice prompts (yes, the VigorTalk talks to you in English!) guide you through setup, which takes less than a minute typically.

With your VigorTalk you'll receive a voucher entitling you to a new DrayTEL account including free allocation of your own telephone number (for people to call you on!) and £2.00 worth of call credit to get you going, to make calls to regular phone lines worldwide (you can buy more credit as required). Call credit is only needed for calls to the PSTN - VoIP-to-VoIP calls are always free (so get your friends to buy a VigorTalk too!). There is no charge to you to receive calls, either from the PSTN or other voIP users. There are no ongoing rental charges.

Phone Directory ("Dialplan") - Quick Dialling

To make a call, you lift the handset connected to your VigorTalk and dial either the DrayTEL SIP address, or a regular telephone number that you wish to call. For numbers you call regularly, the VigorTalk has a quick-dial directory for up to 50 entries so that you can use a short code (of your choice) in place of a long IP address, SIP address or a PSTN phone number.
