VigorTalk for DrayTEL
|
The VigorTalk for DrayTEL is our own Analogue Terminal Adaptor. The user interface, voice menus and operating methods have all been specially designed by us to make the DrayTEL service quick and easy to setup and use. Other similar products or any 'SIP-Compliant' VoIP device should be fully compatible with DrayTEL but will not operate or be set up in the same way so please be aware that this documentation applies to the VigorTalk for DrayTEL only. If your product does not look identical to the one pictured to the right, please refer to your own documentation. Firstly, ensure you have opened/created a DrayTEL account and know your username and password. If you have not done this yet, visit www.draytel.org and open a new account. Await your username and password before proceeding. Connect your VigorTalk to power, using the supplied adaptor and to an Ethernet connection, using the supplied Ethernet (RJ45) cable. This ethernet connection is normally provided by your broadband router. Connect a telephone (any regular analogue telephone) using the supplied socket adaptor if required. See the printed Setup Guide that comes with your VigorTalk for more specific connection instructions. The VigorTalk is set up from the connected telephone handset. You do not need to have a PC connected to the VigorTalk to set it up in most circumstances (the exceptions are if you have an unusual network, require a static IP for the Vigortalk or your gateway does not have a DHCP server facility). The VigorTalk will not present a dialtone to the handset until it is connected to the Internet and logged into the DrayTEL server - it must be set up as below before that is possible. | ![]() |
The VigorTalk must be connected to a network (LAN) with Internet access (for example via a broadband router). The router or other gateway should provide standard DHCP server facilities in order that the VigorTalk can obtain network settings - this is normally the case so don't worry unnecessarily.
Normally, only two pieces of information need to be put into the VigorTalk - your DrayTEL username and your DrayTEL password. You will have received both of those by email from DrayTEL when you opened your account.
If the VigorTalk is connected to an Ethernet connection (LAN LED lit) and connected to the Internet (Dialtone audible) and you have entered your DrayTEL username and password correctly (as detailed above), your VigorTalk should log into the DrayTEL server within a few moments. You can check this by lifting the handset and dialling dialling 9123 for the DrayTEL speaking clock.
